March 27, 2006; SOUTH PARIS, Maine Maine soldier's funeral is peaceful, as threatened disruption doesn't occur; By David Sharp Associated Press ; Hundreds of mourners paid their last respects Saturday to a soldier killed in Iraq as an even larger crowd gathered outside waving flags in response to a threatened disruption that never materialized. About 3,000 people assembled outside the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, turning it into a sea of red, white and blue to counter a fringe church group that promised to attend with pickets proclaiming "Thank God for dead soldiers." More than 30 local, county and state police officers were stationed around the school to keep the peace but the pickets never materialized. More Maine motorcycle news stories here...

Canada killings tied to bikers; POLICE SAY 8 DEATHS PART OF BANDIDOS'
'INTERNAL CLEANSING' Canadian police arrested five people on murder charges yesterday in one of Canada's worst mass killings and said eight men found inside vehicles on an isolated farm over the weekend were affiliated with a biker gang. Police called the killings "an internal cleansing" of the Bandidos motorcycle gang. Detective Ross Bingley of the Ontario Provincial Police said investigators didn't think a biker gang war was imminent. "This is an isolated incident with ties to the Bandidos," he said. Police said they arrested five people at a modest, two-story farmhouse 6 miles from the site where the bodies were found in four vehicles Saturday morning on a farm in Shedden, Ontario, 90 miles northeast of Detroit. The victims died of gunshot wounds, police said. Autopsies were under way yesterday. Police said Bandidos member Wayne Kellestine, 56, would be charged with eight counts of first-degree murder. Also arrested on the same charges were Eric Niessen, 45; Kerry Morris, 56; Frank Mather, 32; and Brett Gardiner, 21. The four were not members of the Bandidos. The victims -- all either full or associate members of the gang -- were listed as George Jesso, 52; George Kriarakis, 28; John Muscedere, 48; Luis Manny Raposo, 41; Francesco Salerajno, 43; Paul Sinopoli, 30; and Michael Trotta, 31. Victim Jamie Flanz, 37, was named as a "prospective" member. All were from Ontario. Police Detective Don Bell said U.S. intelligence indicates the killings were internal to Canada and not related to any rift with American members of the Bandidos. He said the Canadian arm consists of former Quebec gang members, such as the Popeyes and Rock Machine. Read the rest of this Kentucky biker news article here...
